Salt-preserved foods, such as pickles and salted fish, are linked to a higher risk of stomach cancer. High salt content can damage the stomach lining, leading to chronic inflammation and an increased risk of carcinogen-induced mutations. Populations with high intake of these foods have shown significantly higher rates of stomach cancer .
